Pregnant Summer Walker’s Barely-There 2022 BET Awards Outfit Sparks Controversy
Summer Walker, who recently announced that she is pregnant with her second child, bared almost everything on the red carpet at the 2022 BET Awards on Sunday (June 26) at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California.
The 26-year-old ‘Body‘ singer went nearly nude in a stunning Laurel Street look, which included a black crystal gold coin open bra, matching mini-skirt and earrings with gold pasties.

Walker faced backlash for sexualizing traditional jewelry, worn by Hmong people for centuries. The Hmong is an ethnic group of indigenous people, who primarily live in Laos, Vietnam, Thailand and China.
The designer of the outfit, Laurel Street issued an apology in response to the criticism.
“I am of South Asian heritage I understand we should have mentioned the beautiful Hmong culture,” the jewelry brand wrote on Instagram. “I didn’t mean to offend any of you, I love to celebrate all cultures [and] diversity … I apologies [sic] for not sharing and educating on the history of the Hmong people and I will further educate myself.”
The statement continued, “I understand a lot of you are offended that was not my intention at all … it was not our intention to sexualise [sic] theses [sic] pieces but more a celebration of life and the beauty of women.”
The statement concluded, “Summer Walker is a living breathing goddess, it was not our intention to sexualise these pieces but more a celebration of life and the beauty of women.”
Summer Walker was nominated for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist and BET Her awards.
